I don't know if you read "The Namesake" for Jumpa, its very nice novel. I liked it. You know what, the star of the Indian & the Asian Authors is really rising so high nowadays in the World.
The Namesake, is about a Bengali Couple who move to Boston to settle there. When they receive their first child; the father named him " Gogol" coz the father had great respect and admire to Russia's great author "Nikolai Gogol". But, when his son grew up in USA he'll find difficulties to accept this name. But, not only the name, everything that's related to the NAME. The whole Bengali tradition and his father's love for Reading, and Gogol in particular.
QD, Sounds interesting! I'd love to get myself some free time to read.. Hopefully soon.. I love cross-cultural experiences, the story I put is nice coz it talks about that as well as man-woman relationships and communication which I believe is SUCH AN IMPORTANT issue, fa I found it fascinating

Rasheed,
I read reviews on this book and never had the chance to check it out.
I think my sister has it though.
Thanks for the recommendation.
